Andover 132kV Substation Reinforcement
Project type
Substation Reinforcement
The Andover 132/33/11 kV substation is supplied from four National Grid bulk supply points: West Grafton, Melksham, Bramley, and Amesbury. A key objective of the project was to separate the Melksham and West Grafton circuits from the Amesbury circuits, which had previously been running back-to-back and presented a future capacity constraint at the site.
To resolve this, the Melksham (A305A) and West Grafton (A405A) circuits were relocated and reconnected to alternative points on the 132 kV busbar, thereby increasing operational flexibility and ensuring capacity for future demand.
Cannon Power Solutions successfully delivered design services, assurance, coordination, and construction support throughout the project, enabling its completion to the required standards and within programme.
