Winfrith Heath 132kV Substation Reinforcement

A new customer connection required the installation of an additional 132kV AIS bay at Winfrith Heath substation, together with 600m of HV cable route and a remote-end customer substation to facilitate the connection of a PV farm. Furthermore, the transformers at Winfrith Heath had reached their health index threshold, necessitating their replacement along with the associated protection systems.

Cannon Power Solutions worked in close collaboration with SSE to deliver the concept design, encompassing both the substation reinforcement and the customer connection. In addition, we engaged with the customer, providing support for the contestable design delivery through comprehensive coordination and assurance services.
